If you're using the live Printcasting site at http://www.printcasting.com, we want to hear from you. Post your feedback, ideas and -- of course -- any bugs you may find so we can squash 'em. Also, post a link to your Printcast so other people can check it out!
I've just joined and so easily created my first publication, Colorado Family. It was amazing how quickly and easily I was able to do it. A question and some ideas.
If I download my publication as a pdf, can I then upload it to a blog as a sample to get people interested in coming over to printcasting to sign up for future issues? Can I just download each issue and give them away from my personal site?
One idea I had is that I would love to see a bit more customization features. For example, being able to rearrange the order of my articles would be a great feature. Just something to think about.
Thanks for an amazing service that I know will give me a chance to expand my paper!
To promote your Printcast from your blog, go to your Printcasting microsite (http://www.printcasting.com/publisher/micro/414) and click the Share in E-mail or Blog button near the top. You'll see a bunch of widgets that you can add to your blog's HTML template to automatically promote the latest edition of your Printcast.
People can click the thumbnail to view your Printcast online and download it if they choose. You can see an example of a blog widget at the top right of my blog here: http://futureforecast.com/blog.
You, and anyone, can download a PDF from the microsite too. Click the "Download PDF to Print" link above your Printcast on the microsite. It's 8.5x11 so you can print it on any modern inkjet or laser printer, and also take or send it to a service like Fedex OfficePrint: http://www.fedex.com/us/office/.
Another thing you may like is that you can tell your advertisers to place ads by clicking the "Place an Ad Here" button on the right. All ads are $10 right now, but you can mark them up if you like by clicking Edit Settings in the My Publications tab. And a really fun fact: 60% of that revenue goes directly back to you if you provide your Paypal account. More info on that here.
We hear you on the ability to reorder articles. That will be coming soon, along with some other customization features. If you haven't done so already, subscribe to our E-mail newsletter to stay on top of what's new in Printcasting: http://www.printcasting.com/newsletter
Thanks again for your interest, and keep giving us feedback so we can make everything better. We're providing Printcasting precisely for people like you.
Wow Dan! Thanks for featuring me and explaining how this works. I was excited with how easy it was that I hadn't had a chance to look around more, so I miss that link. I am so thrilled to start sharing my Printcast with everyone I know and people I don't know. Thanks one last time.
Glad it was so easy for you. Send us a link to your blog when the widget is up. We can use it as an example in an upcoming newsletter, where we'll be talking more about how to promote Printcasts as part of your existing site, and other real-world initiatives.
Hi. I just joined. This is amazing.
I have a few questions –
Is it possible to get content from on-line that is not in the selection list provided? Is anyone doing that? If it is possible – how and wear?
It seems like the content list is from people using the printcast who have uploaded their own materials for their printcast. If I upload content for a printcast I want to do – does that material become available for everyone to use and access?
Is there anyone who is just providing content?
Is it possible to add photos or graphics?
Is the number of ad spaces set – can there be more or less ad space?
If the number of ad spaces are not filled with paying ads – do we need to keep all the empty ad boxes? Would it be possible to do a few “free” ads to gain interest and encourage people to advertize in future issues? Or to simply remove ad boxes if ads are not sold?
What about a “classified” ad format? (I think the regular ads are more cost effective than most classified ads so I don’t see a reason for classified ads at this point but just asking / wondering).
It looks like the PDF file prints out on regular letter size paper – which is ideal for people printing from their computers on their own. What if I wanted to print out / have printed in quantity to hand out or distribute – how would the pages work in that case? Would it be possible to print out the pages in a way to fold and staple or something to make a magazine / booklet format?
